Blenheim Darkness
I love light... normally I shoot with a lot of it.However our new place in Blenheim is incredibly dark.Tinted windows, dark carpet, dark walls and large trees surrounding the back of the property.It has been making me feel slightly depressed :(So I played all day today, I got out of my funk... and eventually did find a little bit of magic.It scared me at first, its so not me... but now i think I'm in love.
Where it all began...
It seemed fitting one of my last shoots in Northland to go right back to where it all began..Some of my first clients at my favorite first location in Paihia...It was here that I first worked out light.. I found my love of open shade and pops of colour... I discovered that it wasn't a magical forest I was after, instead I needed a magical carpark.A place where clients could easily find me, I could drive my car right up and unload the contents of my car right into the carpark/magical forest.. Not only that but gravel bounces light just the right amount..But even more importantly... this is the place where I met my Hayley, worlds best friend and fellow photographer... sigh... those were the days.Anyways back to the pictures below.. Two gorgeous girls... Their Mum has been such a great friend to me & an awesome supporter of my little business, cant thank her enough... Oh and she is also a Toy Lady.. Cape Reinga at Sunset
This week we said Goodbye to all our Northland friends... It was pretty rough. We have met such beautiful people up North and made such special friendships that the word FRIEND doesn't seem appropriate... we've made family.
Before we left we went on a special trip to witness Cape Reinga at sunset from the lighthouse. I cannot describe what it felt like to be up there for the golden hour until dark... but it was by far the most magical sight my eyes have ever seen...
