Outdoor Dunedin Newborn Photos
The majority of my clients choose to have their newborn photographed in their own home or in my studio. Having a comfortable place to feed and change baby in the early days is great.. But if you are feeling adventurous…
Its no secret I love photographing babies outside.
Wrapped in layers of merino & gorgeous handmade hats.
Laying down having a little nap in a little woodland bed.
Or snuggling up in mum & dads arm.
And sometimes having a little drink amongst the trees.
Due to the magic of photoshop it’s not always easy to gage if the image you are looking at was created in the studio or in a forest. A lot of my older imagery was photographed in Kerikeri where it was so lovely and warm that we could photograph unwrapped babies outdoors safely in my studio garden. Since moving down south I have had to change the way I work. So if you see any imagery where a bubba is not wrapped up you can rest assured that was created in my studio & a background added later.
Below you will find some examples to help you decide how you would like your little one photographed.

What should I wear to my maternity Photoshoot?
I know you are already finding it hard to find everyday clothes that you love and now I’m asking you to think about a dress!
Selecting the right outfit for your maternity shoot is important. Most woman choose one or two gowns for their maternity shoot. I recommend choosing something that really celebrates your pregnancy & growing bump for your individual portraits. If you are including some images with your partner & children I recommend also selecting a more causal outfit that compliments your family.

You may recognise these guys from “What Now”. Talented, Adorable, strong, hardworking & hilarious. Photographing these guys was a dream. The control they have over their bodies is beautiful to photograph. Every arm beautifully placed & poised right down to the tip of their toes. Their commitment to their craft blows my mind! Follow Molly B Official and Poppy Brown Popstar.
If you would like to have your dance photographed like this please get in touch. We travel frequently for photoshoots all over the country. To make it extra fun, get a group together & we can design a group dance session. Each dancer gets their own time in front of the camera + 10 gorgeous images.
Dance Sock Academy
How adorable are these little socks by “Dance Sock Academy” These socks help dancers learn correct technique through story and the cute little graphics on the socks. I absolutely love being a small part of helping new businesses with their imagery, especially when it involves unicorns.

Kerikeri : My heart.
I couldn't believe my eyeballs when I visited the Far North for the first time in 2008. I had just had my first baby in Dunedin & my husband had applied for a temporary position at the other end of the country, flying over the Bay of Islands and right up to Cape Reinga.
I was near the beginning of my photography career and enjoying photographing babies and weddings. My style hadn't developed yet, but that was all set to change the second I photographed a child in the lush greeness of the native bush... I was hooked... like forever... obsessed with greeness... and when i found bright green moss! Oh my goodness my world was complete.
A special client at one of my favourite places - Rollands Woods.

We loved it so much up there that we ended up staying for six years. We purchased a home with a beautiful studio overlooking Kerikeri Inlet and welcomed two more babies into our family.
We left Kerikeri in 2015 with a very heavy heart but return once of twice a year to visit our incredible friends & regular clients. If you would like your portraits taken in Kerikeri please send me a message to be added to the wait list. Sessions take place at Rollands Woods, Rainbow Falls & The Redwoods.
